Marjorie
B. Perces, Co-Artistic Director of the 5 Dance Spotlight Lester Horton
videos and co-author of The Dance Technique of Lester Horton,
received her MA in Dance from Columbia University and has been teaching
dance for over four decades. She performed with the Lester Horton
Dance Company from 1946-1950, and while teaching at that studio had the
distinction of being Alvin Ailey’s first teacher of the Horton technique. She
has also taught classes and workshops at numerous schools and companies,
including Arts Connection, Bella Lewitzky Dance Associates, Dance Theater
of Harlem, Sarah Lawrence College, the Hong Kong 5th International Dance
Conference, City College of New York, Alvin Ailey American Dance Center,
Clark Center for the Performing Arts, and at Teachers College, Columbia
University.
